2008 Shirley Growth Chart....
Nothing makes the time fly by like a child growing up. This year we have had many growths. So here we go counting down 2008 in Shirley Family Fashion, with full disclosure!
January 08 – Oh, we all had the worst flu. It was not fun. That is all I am going to say about that month.
Feb 08 – Kyler turned one! We had a “Seuss” of a time. Kyler was The Cat in the Hat! He enjoyed his cake, especially the frosting. It is still cold outside, so we thought maybe Kaden would like to start potty training.
March 08 – The Easter Bunny came! Dada (Matt) and the boys decorated all sorts of Easter Eggs, most were a crazy mis-match of stickers and random color. They were beautiful. Kaden is still potty training. Oh, we also got a really cool swing set from Gammy and Papa T. So, there was a lot of “faster mama, higher” and “Wheeeee”.
April 08 – Busy month. Matt turned 31! Yes he is still hot . The boys and I started watching our new little friends Mason and Jadyn (who we baby-sit a few days a week). We all went to see Grandpa / ma Boston in Oklahoma. Kaden found a new love….worms. OH, yes he made them a house and everything. Kyler even ate one! Life with boys, it’s interesting and comes with extra protein. Getting better on the big boy potty.
May 08 – The joy of yard work starts. Kaden is totally in love with “helping” the mower, he is also finding out about busted lips, and how to kick a soccer ball. Potty, potty, potty training an endless feat.. Kyler is finding out how cool the water color books are, he is my budding artist. We are all learning how to use Sign Language, the kids are really good. Oh, we also became one of “those” families and now drive a mini- van. And….I love it!!!
June 08 – Our first major road trip to Pensacola Fl, with Meme and Papa Shirley. We had a blast with the jellyfish, sea shells (treasures) and crabs. While we were there we saw the circus! Fun with cousins as all the kiddo’s were there. Kaden, Mama and Nannie Sanmann went on a date to “Walking with Dinosaurs”. Nothing could be better for a little boy completely in love with dinosaurs Oh, and the potty thing….we finally got it!
July 08 – Kaden turned 3! We celebrated with a dinosaur cake, of course. Kyler, is doing better with feeding himself table food. Matt and Katrena celebrate their 8th anniversary. We now have officially known each other half of our lives. How scary is that!
August 08 – Kyler has found is love for music. He is completely in love with dancing, playing his brother’s guitar, and giving the drums a run for their money. Kaden fell out of a shopping cart at Target and got a major bump on the noggin . Kaden is also learning how to ride a bike (with training wheels). Kyler likes to help “puuush”.
September 08 – Ok, so now I’m 30. Whatever, it’s not really a big deal. I mean a lot of people turn 30, right? So what if I drive a mini-van, rarely put on make-up or do my hair, and yes…my cute clothes don’t really fit my lifestyle anymore. Oh, no! I’m 30. Ok, change of subject. Anybody know what it’s like to pick apples with 2 little helpers? Well, let’s just say ALL the apples in the bucket were taste tested for quality . My new business Dreemie Preemie was given a wonderful opportunity from the March of Dimes to participate in the Biker’s for Babies Event.
October 08 - The joy of fall Pumpkin patches, hay rides and Halloween. Kaden was a Train Engineer he had a pocket watch, hat, train whistle, and overalls that made him look sooo cute. Kyler was A Bee. Which I’m sure you have heard him say “abee, abee, abee” like a zillion times. It was one of his first words and still one of his favorite along with “I’m stump” for anytime he gets into a place he can’t get out of. Matt had sinus surgery. This time, it actually worked! He is on the mend and can breath again! It’s great!
November 08 – Kyler, my little monkey, can now climb out of his crib. So, we turned it into a toddler bed and he didn’t really like that, so he just took his naps curled up on his rocking chair. He is so odd that way. Kaden, is now up to about 75 signs in sign language. Right now turkey seems festive so all birds are now turkeys. Kyler is up to about 15 signs, and baby is his favorite. We hosted Thanksgiving at our house, and yes I cooked a traditional bird and it turned out delicious if I say so myself. Matt took the boys to their first “tool class” at Lowes. They made football “goals” .
December 08 – Ok Kyler you can have a big boy bed, you don’t have to sleep in the chair . And would you please keep your clothes on! Kaden has decided he is too big to take naps at all. And wow, look at price of gas. We can afford to go places again. So, hopefully we will all see you soon.
Have a Merry Christmas and a wonderful New Year.
We will be counting our MANY blessings this year, and hope you do that same. Thank you for being a part of our family, friends and year! Watch out 2009, we are going on a growth spurt!
